Humanities Computing / Digital Humanities Academy

Invitation to teleconference

Dear Friends and Colleagues, you are cordially invited to an on-line conference to establish an "Academy of Humanities Computing and Digital Humanities" Tuesday, October 6, at 4pm (Rome time). The time of the conference has been chosen to conciliate different time zones, e.g. Alberta (8am), Toronto (10am), Wahington (10am). The agenda is: finalizing the statutes; legal status of the Academy. I suppose the discussion will take not more than 2 hours. After some investigations and tests I have decided that the best way was to use the Skype Conference Calling facility. It seems easy and efficient, _but_: it is based on the skillfulness and good behaviour of the participants; and it becomes less efficient with more than 5 client posts. Therefore I invite the participants residing in the same city to share a common place (e.g. Bologna, Milano; I shall arrange for Rome). Also I ask the participants: - to arrange the skype contact with me: "sinouthios"; - to use a powerful web communication source; - to wait for my call at the right moment (do not call me yourselves); - to switch the "mute microphone" option in your machine during the conference, unless having given the word after an explicit request; - to have on the desk the project, which is in attachment. It includes the list of the invited persons, i.e. all those who have written to me stating their interest in the enterprise. Coi piu' cordiali saluti, Tito Orlandi
